Transport for NSW
Media training
Transport for NSW is currently running many significant infrastructure projects across the state, including the construction or maintenance of bridges and freight roads. Each one is headed up by a Project Manager, who often has a background in construction and engineering.
Transport for NSW approached contentgroup to provide media training for 12 of their Project Managers. These individuals are being asked to appear in front of the public on an increasing basis – whether they are being interviewed by traditional broadcast media, or engaging in public forums such as community discussions in person or over Facebook Live.

Transport for NSW wanted to ensure that key staff members were prepared to deliver messages about their projects in a clear way, responding well to pressure and maintaining a professional and approachable manner.
In August 2020, two online media training sessions were successfully delivered over Microsoft Teams. The sessions were four hours each in length and provided a mix of tuition and interactive experiences.
Transport for NSW rated contentgroup 5 out of 5 in response to an evaluation survey question “How happy are you with the work ethic and performance of our project team?”
Participants were asked to engage with a ‘journalist’ and reviewed each other’s performances. We also provided them with a presentation of the current media landscape and tips for how to react to different types of questioning and format.
Delivering a media training session online was a new experience for contentgroup.
We used our in-house ‘Studio-19’ to deliver the sessions and adapted our exercises to better work online. The client team was very pleased with the output and provided positive feedback.
