Drought Resilience Innovation Grants Webinar
Project Brief
The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) recruited contentgroup to produce and facilitate a one-hour virtual webinar from our studio located centrally in Canberra City.
The Future Drought Fund (FDF): Drought Resilience Innovation Grants – Expression of Interest information session was aimed at potential grant applicants. The webinar provided information on a grant opportunity that funds ideas to encourage farmers and their communities to adopt innovative initiatives/activities to build drought resilience.
It was important to DAWE that potential applicants had an opportunity to ask questions and make comments about the grants in real time to assist them in the application process.

Methodology and Approach
contentgroup worked closely with DAWE to define and plan the parameters of the webinar. Following an initial consultation, we created a registration page for the webinar which was shared with the team as an accessible link. DAWE shared this link with relevant stakeholders and potential applicants in a newsletter and in various other communications.
In the lead up to the webinar, contentgroup assisted DAWE in running a full dress rehearsal. This allowed contentgroup and the team from DAWE to run through the script for the first time and make any changes to it that were identified in the rehearsal and allowed for discussion on how to best set up the studio in a unique way for this webinar.
The live broadcast was very successful, with the audience participating in the webinar through the Q&A segment and the live poll that appeared at the close of the webinar. During the broadcast contentgroup set up lighting and a virtual backdrop that appeared on a TV screen that suited the FDF theme with colours of purple and blue.
Former TV host and producer Andrew Bell, facilitated the webinar, running the Q&A segment and allowing a smooth flow from speaker to speaker. He also assisted in the dress rehearsal, where he provided advice to the team from DAWE on their script and webinar in general.
We used the video conferencing platform, Zoom, to produce all elements of the webinar from the registration page to the final delivery of data.
Following the webinar, DAWE received a recording of the session, an annotated transcript and a detailed analytics report.
Outcomes
The Department received overall positive feedback from their Australia wide audience and stakeholders from this webinar. The session received 682 registrations, with a 66% attendance rate and 77 questions asked during the live broadcast.
